Today we had a nice breakfast consisting of cereal, fresh-cut fruit, and vegetables.
After breakfast, Tom and Angela continued our tour of MCF Ndalani. They brought us to see the original Jacobs Well where Dr. Charles Mully found the water source to sustain his growing family. We also visited the farm fields of corn, cabbage, and kale, and visited the poultry farm.
An hour before lunch, half of our group went to play with Mully’s children with the volleyballs, soccer balls, frisbees, bubbles, and parachutes we brought. Immediately, a lot of boys helped themselves with soccer balls and started playing with their brothers and sisters, as it was a familiar sport to them. With the rest of the sports or games, Mully’s children were a bit more hesitant but soon warmed up. Plenty of the kids recognized members of the MCF team and they were able to interact more. They played for about an hour and the MCF team got a fresh coating of dirt all over themselves. The children were all friendly and kind, and all the members of the MCF team enjoyed playing with the children. Unfortunately, while some boys were playing soccer, Joshua unexpectedly got hit in the back of his head with a soccer ball. Thanks to God’s grace, he is feeling a bit better now.
Meanwhile, the other half of the group, mainly doctors or parents, went on a medical and dental facility tour in the MCF compound.
Our group gladly marched back and had a hearty meal of pasta salad, rice, tomato soup, and so much more. The chefs always provide the entire team with a delicious and filling meal.
After a nourishing lunch, the team went onto the bus with some MCF staff to visit and support 2 families with love and food. MCF identified These families as needing support due to food insecurity and their ability to provide basic necessities. They each shared their stories and we asked questions. The first family was a husband and wife with their 13-year-old son. They lived in a tiny hut, yet they managed to fit the three of them.
The second family was a grandmother with 2 daughters that had 6 children total. MCF brought some hefty leafy greens, flour, tomatoes, and a lot more to gift to each of the families. It was a tiring hike to the second house as it was on a part of a mountain. Luckily the MCF mission trip team didn’t drop anything. The entire family of 9 lived in 3 small huts. The team felt extremely privileged and blessed as they came down the mountain. They all safely came down the steep hill and headed back home for dinner.
We all stuffed ourselves with dinner chatting about the day and the next day that lay before us. God has blessed us with the opportunity to help other families by providing for them and praying for them.
Prayer:
That God may work in our hearts as we help and interact with Mully’s children.
That we may all stay safe and healthy as we go on our trip.
That the families that we visited will be blessed and will grow a stronger relationship with God.
For logistics and safety as we return to Nairobi next week. We were informed that there will be protests on Tuesday and Thursday that will shut down the whole city.
